Not just any pretty board. I’m talking about Inspiration Boards! A short while ago the girls and I were feeling crafty and decided to make inspiration boards.
What is an inspiration board? It is anything you want it to be! Simply a collage of anything meaningful to you. In my case, I am a list maker.
I am constantly jotting down desires, goals, wants, must see, must do and must try. However, these “list” get closed in a book or tucked away and forgotten. I wanted something prettier than a bulletin or cork board where I could stick these tidbits up, thereby, being reminded of them daily. I wanted to create a “visual space” where I could stick up anything that I liked that would inspire me to keep pressing toward my goals. Currently, these boards (although not reflected in the pictures) have, quotes, scripture, theater dates, pictures (you get the point) added to them.
Our inspiration boards were painted using acrylics, and embellished with feathers, beads, ribbon, and anything else that we could find. The birdies were bought but most of the things that we used were collected over time from earlier craft projects.
There is no wrong or right way to make these boards. In fact, we were surprised at how involved we became. What we thought would be a quick little project instead became a time to let our thoughts drift and let our hands do the talking.
There were a few oh oh moments and “what the heck am I doing?”. We had plenty of laughs, drank tea and played music. We got carried away at times to the point where we had to, kindly say to each other, “uh, I think that’s enough feathers.” And times when we wondered if we would have any space left to add our “inspirations” (the main reason for the boards!)
All in all, it was good fun. These boards will last for as long as we want them and will continue to evolve as our desires evolve. I guess that’s the beauty of these boards.
